Stats show that racial and gender transformation in SA is picking up speed

There has been an 8% increase in BEE appointments last year, building on the 10% increase registered in 2016.

This is according to Jack Hammer CEO Debbie Goodman-Bhyat.

In total, Employment Equity placements stood at 56% in 2017.

This is up from 48.4% in 2016 and 39% in 2015.

Appointments of black women made up 25% of total appointments in 2017.

This is up from 13% in 2016.

Appointments of women, in general, made up 38% of total appointments.

Last year the figure stood at 32%.

Appointments of foreign nationals made up 3% of total appointments.

This is down from 6.5% in 2016.
